How to Try Out Polaris
The Polaris system is currently only available to users at Carnegie Mellon University. For information on access please send mail to documentation+@andrew.cmu.edu.
To try out the system, pick a system type:
Accessing Polaris:
From a Macintosh:
From Mosaic:
- Select "Open URL..." from the File menu.
- Type "http://polaris.andrew.cmu.edu/help/sys=mac_os/env=gamma/TopPage"
in the "Open Document" window.
From Netscape:
- Select "Open Location..." from the File menu.
- Type "http://polaris.andrew.cmu.edu/help/sys=mac_os/env=gamma/TopPage"
in the "Open Document" window.
Or just click HERE.
From a PC:
From Mosaic:
- Select "Open URL..." from the File menu.
- Type "http://polaris.andrew.cmu.edu/help/sys=pc_win/env=gamma/TopPage"
in the "Open Document" window.
From Netscape:
- Select "Open Location..." from the File menu.
- Type "http://polaris.andrew.cmu.edu/help/sys=pc_win/env=gamma/TopPage"
in the "Open Document" window.
Or just click HERE .
From a UNIX workstation:
From Mosaic:
- Select "Open URL..." from the file menu.
- Type "http://polaris.andrew.cmu.edu/ in the "Open Document" window.
- Click on the system type you will be using: Ultrix 4.2a (DECstation), HPUX 9.0.5 (Hewlett Packard), or Solaris 2.5.1 (Sun Microsystems)
From Netscape:
- Select "Open Location..." from the File menu.
- Type "http://polaris.andrew.cmu.edu/ in the "Open Document" window.
- Click on the system type that you will be using, DECstation(Ultrix4.2a), Hewlett Packard(HPUX 9.0.5), or Sun Microsystem (SunOS 4.1.3.)
